😟 Stress can have a profound impact on our physical and mental wellbeing. In this current climate, many Australians are experiencing heightened stress levels due to the increased pressures of the cost of living and the impact of this on our work, family, and personal life.
Physically, stress can lead to headaches, muscle tension, digestive issues, and weakened immunity. Long-term stress raises the risk of conditions like high blood pressure, heart disease, and diabetes.
Mentally, stress affects mood, causing irritability, anxiety, and depression, and can impair concentration and memory, which further exacerbates pressures at work and home. Chronic stress may also lead to sleep issues, fatigue, and an increased reliance on unhealthy coping behaviours like overeating or substance use.
Managing stress effectively is essential for overall health, as prolonged stress can reduce quality of life and hinder personal and professional functioning.
👉In honour of #NationalStressAwarenessDay, here are some simple, evidence-based tips to help you manage stress effectively, which aim to improve resilience and support mental well-being.

Very informative Alasdair Grant and Jon Ansell. Lots of great information for employers and workers - thank you!!
What a joke. What happens in training only happens in the workplace if the employer/supervisor actually gives a shit.
Occupational Therapy is more than just assessing one's mobility, energy and endurance, cognition, and mental health. It’s also about communication, social interaction, and Connectiveness!
As we draw to a close for #otweek 2024, we would like you to meet another ORS OT ⭐️SUPERSTAR⭐️ Alannah!

Traditionally, Occupational Therapists have used hands-on approaches to build connections with clients.
🇦🇺 Over 5.5 million Australians need disability occupational therapy services each year. This means the demand for new tools to improve the therapeutic relationship is quite high.
🥽 Virtual reality, with its ability to create immersive and meaningful experiences, is emerging as a game-changer.
Check out our recent blog ‘How are ORS Occupational Therapists Innovating?’ by ORS Team Leader for Occupational Therapy Jerome Choo to see how VR in therapy, is bridging the gap between digital environments and real-world outcomes, helping Occupational Therapists reach new levels of connectedness 👉

🤔Did you know that allied health professionals make up the second-largest clinical workforce in Australia?
As Allied Health Professionals, we work together to create great outcomes and better health services for our clients, but it’s nice to sometimes focus on our own and show appreciation where we can. 👊
So, we could not help but add an ‘ORS’ touch to the day yesterday with site luncheons for all our employees across Australia and special ‘Gratitude’ appreciation cards for our staff to give to their fellow work colleagues with a personalised message of appreciation. 💕
A huge thank you to all our ORS employees for your dedication and commitment to transforming lives through allied health services that work! 🙌

🎊Welcome to Feel Good Friday with ORS’ Walk and Talk!🎊
What better way to help raise funds for the Black Dog Institute #onestepforward campaign?
One of our ⭐️superstar⭐️ clinicians, Regional Manager for Positive Behaviour Support/Early Childhood Supports Katie Southwell, decided to mix up her session today with Adele, along with Adel’s support coordinator and recovery coach Kate Oakley, as well as Maya her support worker, for a session with a difference, while supporting a very worthy cause.
“We both chose to do One Foot Forward from our lived experience and to support those who live with mental health – and a walk and talk session on a nice day is way more fun, especially when it is followed up by hot donuts! By the end of the session we had done a sneaky 4.5km,” said Katie.
We love how our ORS clinicians think outside the box for their sessions! 💕

As we highlight #WorldMentalHealthDay it’s important to draw attention to supporting neurodiversity in the workplace and occupational burnout. 🧠
How is this defined?
Occupational burnout is defined by WHO in the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11; WHO, 2022) as a “syndrome conceptualised as resulting from chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed” and is characterised by energy depletion, mental distance from one’s job and reduced professional efficacy.
It is well highlighted that both neurodiverse individuals and their neurotypical colleagues have personal characteristics that may perceived as equally vital for the implementation of work tasks, and which can also promote the occurrence of the phenomenon of occupational burnout, such as in relation to social abilities (Tomczak & Kulikowski, 2023).
With extensive experience in this area, ORS’ General Manager for Psychology Sarah Stewart shares some quick tips for employers facing challenges in this area.
Sarah also shares a very informative blog on ‘Supporting Neurodiversity in the Workplace’ with a more in depth look at all our tips 👉https://orsgroup.com.au/world-mental-health-day-supporting-neurodiversity-in-the-workplace/
If you or someone you know are seeking guidance in neuroaffirming workplace adjustments, or therapeutic support to manage operational burnout, ORS is available to help. Did you know that there are more than 17 million people across the world living with cerebral palsy and another 350 million people are closely connected to a child or adult with cerebral palsy?
💚Cerebral palsy is a physical disability that affects movement and posture. Many people with cerebral palsy have other related vision, hearing, communication, and mobility needs. Its impact can range from a weakness in one hand to almost a complete lack of voluntary movement.
It is a complex disability:
💚 1 in 4 children with cerebral palsy cannot talk
💚 1 in 4 cannot walk
💚 1 in 2 have an intellectual disability
💚1 in 4 have epilepsy.

Kameeka Graham ideas for next time???
💛 R U OK? 💛
Today we are highlighting our national day of action to remind everyone that every day is the day to ask, ‘Are you OK?’ and to start a conversation if we see someone struggling with life’s challenges.
Across ORS, and especially in our early childhood supports division, we understand the importance of helping to educate children on the challenges they are facing.
While children can't be expected to fix someone else's problems, we can encourage them to listen to what their friend is saying, show they care, and tell a teacher, school counsellor, or trusted adult if they are concerned about their friend. Check out today's video which shows them how to do that.
If you are seeking help for your child, or someone you care for, then please feel free to contact our Key Worker Early Childhood Supports team today at 1800 000 677 or visit our website to make a referral > orsgroup.com.au/refer-now

Today we are highlighting a significant day - World Suicide Prevention Day.
In Australia alone, nearly 10 million people have been affected by suicide so we must recognise that every single person can play a role in preventing suicide, not only on World Suicide Prevention Day but every day of the year.
This year’s continuing theme of “We all have a role to play,” echos the International Association for Suicide Prevention’s (IASP) overarching theme of “Changing the Narrative on Suicide.” In this spirit, we stand united in our commitment to reduce suicide, empowering individuals with the confidence to take action.
It’s very appropriate today to hear from ORS’ Lorraine Green.
Lorraine is our National Complex and At Risk Client Services Manager who reviews clients who are at risk of suicide or self-harm and assists ORS clinicians in their direct work with these clients.
Lorraine is a registered psychologist with many years of experience working with clients who struggle with suicidal ideation and behaviour.
Please don’t forget that you are not alone!
